Home Decor: Using a pop of color

Creativity, Painting

Decorating is a way to personally connect with the structures and pieces of your home, handcrafting any decorations can help to forge or strengthen the connection you have with your home and the way you feel within in. To my fellow renters: I know it’s difficult to fully decorate when you can’t put holes in the wall or paint, but don’t fret you can still decorate your walls with your own personal touches.

The kitchen is a space where I can appreciate pops of color and fun, eye-catching patterns. I like the combination of matte black and bright red, and most of my kitchen items fit within this color scheme. With a stencil, I painted the crossed arrows in the center of the black canvas. You’ll notice that i painted the edges of the canvas bright red for the pop of color needed to compliment my kitchen. After the lettering was hand-painted and the arrows were touched up, i used a paint brush to spread glue in the shape of the arrows. The final step was to cover the glue in an abundance of silver glitter.

Do you have any home decor with bright pops of color? I’d love to hear about how you incorporated them into your decor and color schemes!
