As a kid I heeded my Mom’s warning to not write on the walls, but now that I have long since moved out, I am finally experiencing what it’s like to write on my walls!! Well.. on my chalkboard wall that is.
Believe it or not, I completed this project for under $10! Here’s how…
I shopped online (Amazon) for chalkboard contact paper, if you don’t shop online much I would suggest heading to your local Michael’s Craft Store with a coupon in-hand and expect to pay $10. The contact paper I ordered was 6 ft long and 2 ft wide, and the package also included several colors of chalk to get started. The contact paper conveniently displays a grid on the backside for accurate cuts and measurements. I cut the contact paper in two even halves, measured my desired wall, and first applied one sheet of contact paper. I’d suggest using a ruler or yard stick to apply the contact paper, pressing firmly and evenly as to avoid wrinkles or bubbles.

Once the first contact paper sheet was set, I waited to make sure that the product would stick to the less than smooth surface of my walls. After waiting and running the ruler firmly over it again I added the second contact paper sheet.

With both sheets up, the project is complete and the drawing began!

Note:
To my fellow renters: no this is not paint and no it will not damage your walls.
To home owners: this is contact paper and is non-permanent, if you’d like a permanent chalkboard wall I’d suggest chalkboard paint.
